Indian Doctor likely to be in Guineas Book of Records

 

Dr. Vijay Trehan, Professor of Cardiology in G B Pant Hospital has the unique distinction of doing 62 mitral valvuloplasty in one day. It happened on 18.06.2004 in one OT theatre single handedly starting from 9 am and ending at 11.30 pm. The same has already been recorded in Limca Book of Records. I eat dinner lighter than lunch ? Chetan Chauhan

 

Noted cricketer-cum-politician, Chetan Chauhan during his visit to MTNL Perfect Health Mela said that he follows what a cardiologist preaches.  His dinner is lighter than lunch. Now a days, he is eating in a full day what he used to eat in one meal during his active cricket days. Even today he runs one hour a day in his sports track suit and shoes.

 

DMC Election Update

 

Government of Delhi is yet to announce the four nominated members to Delhi Medical Council. There are many names floating. It is likely that one may see the first woman member amongst the nominated ones. Unfortunately, out of the eight elected members from amongst the general members, there was no woman member. The elections for DMA are also likely to be announced soon.

Ca Breast or Ca Cervix?

Cancer of the breast is not the commonest cancer in females in India. Cervix is still the commonest cancer in females in India. Smoking in pregnancy risks psychotic children

Mothers who smoke during pregnancy put their children at greater risk of developing psychotic symptoms as teenagers. Researchers from four British universities studied 6,356 12-year-olds and interviewed them for psychotic-like symptoms such as hallucinations or delusions. Around 19 percent had mothers who smoked during pregnancy. Just over 11 percent, or 734 of the total group, had suspected or definite symptoms of psychosis.

Sexual Satisfaction May Lead to Greater Well-Being in Women

Women who are happy with their sex lives have higher well-being scores and more vitality than women who are sexually dissatisfied, Australian researchers say. Their study included 295 women, aged 20 to 65, who were sexually active more than twice a month. "We wanted to explore the links between sexual satisfaction and well-being in women from the community, and to see if there was any difference between pre- and postmenopausal women," study author Dr. Sonia Davison, of the Women's Health Program at Monash University, said in a news release from the journal in which the study was published.

Dear Dr Aggarwal, Enjoyed reading your emedinews. Under 'Health Tip: Preventing Varicose Veins' it is mentioned, 'Apply sunscreen to help protect your skin '. I am not aware of any published study which has implicated exposure to sun as the causative factor for varicose vein development.
