IMA Advisory: In every unexplained death give an option to conduct a virtual autopsy

New Delhi, Jan 05, 2017: IMA is for establishing virtual autopsies at the clinical level for non-medicolegal cases. Virtual autopsies can be facilitated by currently available techniques like whole body CT, whole body MRI, post mortem angiography and molecular autopsy.

Padma Shri Awardee Dr. K.K Aggarwal - National President Indian Medical Association (IMA) and President Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI), and Dr RN Tandon - Honorary Secretary General IMA in a joint statement said, "Virtopsy or virtual autopsy is an alternative to traditional autopsy, conducted with scanning and imaging technology.
