Reduce liquids to reduce weight

When it comes to losing weight, cut down on liquid calories rather than food.

Weight loss from liquid calories is greater than loss of calorie intake from solid food, as per Dr. Liwei Chen, an assistant professor of epidemiology at the School of Public Health at the LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans, in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The body is able to self–regulate its intake of solid food. If you eat too much solid food at lunch, you’ll tend to eat less at dinner. But the same self–regulation does not apply for what you drink. The body does not adjust to liquid calories, so over time, you gain more weight.

Cutting back on calories from sugary drinks – by only one serving per day – can account for nearly two–and–a–half pounds of lost weight over 18 months.

Beverages are categorized into eight categories

  1. Sugar–sweetened beverages (including soft drinks, fruit drinks, fruit punch, or high–calorie beverages sweetened with sugar)
  2. Diet drinks such as diet soda and other diet drinks that were artificially sweetened
  3. Milk (including whole milk, 2 percent milk, and 1 percent skim)
  4. 100 percent fruit and vegetable juice
  5. Coffee and tea with sugar
  6. Coffee and tea without sugar
  7. Alcoholic beverages.
  8. Water with no calories.

The best drinks are water, plain soda and tea coffer with no sugar

How to Improve Your Soul Profile

Answer the following questions.

  1. What is my purpose of life?
  2. What is my contribution going to be for my friends and family?
  3. Three instances in my life when I had my peak experiences.
  4. Names of three people who inspire me the most.
  5. Three qualities which I admire the most in others.
  6. Three of my unique talents.
  7. Three qualities I best express in my relationship.

These 21 answers will characterize one’s soul profile and can be used as a passport for every action performed in life and to be used as a reference in any difficulty. The principle is that in everyday life, one should act from the Soul Profile and not from the Ego Profile. While the Soul profile cannot be manipulated, the Ego Profile can be.

Steps to Happiness

Everybody Knows: You can't be all things to all people. You can't do all things at once. You can't do all things equally well. You can't do all things better than everyone else. Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.

So: You have to find out who you are, and be that. You have to decide what comes first, and do that. You have to discover your strengths, and use them. You have to learn not to compete with others, because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.

Then: You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness. You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions. You will have learned to live with your limitations. You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due. And you'll be a most vital mortal.

Dare To Believe: That you are a wonderful, unique person. That you are a once-in-all-history event. That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are. That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish. And you'll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.

Avoid Food Poisoning by thorough washing and proper cooking

Thorough washing and proper cooking of fruits and vegetables can eliminate most bacteria that cause food poisoning, said Padma Shri, Dr. B C Roy National Awardee & DST National Science Communication Awardee, Dr. K K Aggarwal, President Heart Care Foundation of India and Honorary Secretary General Indian Medical Association.

Food borne illnesses or food poisoning usually occurs as a result of eating food tainted with bacteria or their toxins. Virus and parasites also can cause food poisoning. People have long known that raw meat, poultry and eggs can also harbor diseases causing microbes. But in recent years most outbreaks of food-borne illnesses are due to fresh fruits and vegetables.

Food poisoning can cause abdominal pain, nausea, headache, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration. Symptoms may appear several hours to several days after eating tainted food. For example, Salmonella bacteria will cause illness 12 hours to 3 days after ingestion lasting about 4-7 days. The most common way to treat food poisoning is to drink plenty of fluids. The sickness usually subsides within a few days.

  1. Dear Sir, I welcome the new format of eMedinewS. However, html version is more useful to read on mobile, especially when the net speed is always slow on mobile; secondly, we cannot search any item from previous few issues of eMedinewS in its present format. HTML format was very useful for the same. The solution is SIMPLE; please also provide the newsletter in html format below the current format. Thanks, regards and happy new year . Dr Jitendra Ingole
