Eating foods in their natural form is always better

An elephant is obese, eats sugarcane (ganna) and yet does not develop diabetes. I am sure if he is given 10% sugar drinks everyday or made to eat 30% sugar containing sweats, he would end up with diabetes.

The natural form of sugarcane is eating ganna, the second form is ganne ka juice, third is gur (jaggery), fourth is shakkar and fifth is white sugar.

The more you eat foods in their natural form, more the health benefits you will get from that food.

Food is Brahmin and contains the same consciousness as you have. The food which is more refined will loses its consciousness and is not beneficial to the health.

Similarly, wheat flour with bran is better than flour without bran, which is better than suji, which is better than maida. Maida is the final product and if taken every day, it can cause heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

I am the Best

People who lack self–confidence and self-esteem face recurrent episodes of depressions. They suffer from inferiority complex as all the time they compare themselves with others.

It’s a common saying that "everyone like someone else’s wife, money and their own buddhi or intelligence".

An organization is good or bad is decided by its people. If the people are good the organization is good and if the people are bad the organization is bad. An organization without people is only a building made up of bricks.

Imagine a situation where two students of a school are asked "how is his school". The first student answers: "my school is the best" and the second one says: "my school is not the best". The teacher’s reply to both the students is the same: "it has to be because student like you are there in this school". It’s you who will make the school best or not the best.

Which ever organization you work for, it has to be the best, because you are working there and because you are the best. If it was not the best you would not have been there. The mantra of success lies in the self affirmation of "I am the best"

Everybody is born with a hidden talent. One should only look for positive things in oneself and others. One should never compare oneself with others, as one does not know how many bad things they might be harboring in them.

You have to be the best As the God selected you as a human being. Remember, a human being is born passing through 84 lakhs of different kinds of living species.

The Eastern scripture explains that in this world there are approximate 84 lakh of species of living beings which include 3 million species of plant life; 2 million 7,00,000 species of insects; 1 million 4,00,000 kinds of birds; 9,00,000 kind of water animals and 4,00,000 kind of land animals including men.

One therefore, should not only look oneself through the eyes of flesh but also through the eyes of mind and soul. One should not only analyze one’s physical profile but also the ego and soul profile.

External beauty is important but is incomplete without the beauty of the mind and of the soul. Ashtawakra Gita was a dialogue between the sage Ashtawakra and Raja Janaka. Ashtawakra was a person with eight curves in the physical body. But his soul profile was unmatchable.

All About Calcium Carbide

  • Under PFA Section 44AA, the use of calcium carbide for artificial ripening of mangoes, apple, plum, banana is prohibited and can attract both imprisonment and fine.
  • Calcium carbide powder is usually kept wrapped in paper between the fruits (unripe mangoes) in a basket or box.
  • Once the basket of mango is closed from the top, calcium carbide absorbs moisture and produces acetylene gas, which accelerates the ripening process of fruits.
  • The health hazards are related to the gastrointestinal tract, kidney, heart, liver and brain and in long run cancer.
  • Calcium carbide 1kg is available for Rs. 25/– and is sufficient to ripe 10 tons of fruit.
  • How do we know that the fruit has been artificially ripened with calcium carbide?
    • It will be less tasty.
    • The aroma will be different
    • It is uniform in color.
    • The color of the mango changes from green to dark yellow.
    • It will have a less shelf life.
    • It will be overtly soft.
    • There may be black patches on the mango skin.
    • There may be multi color patches on the skin of the mango (Red, yellow, green patches)
  • How should artificially ripened fruits be handled?
    • Never eat off-season fruits, especially before time
    • Rinse all fruits in running tap water for few minutes before use.

Inspirational Story

Four friends spend weeks planning the perfect boys–out trip.

Two days before the group is to leave, Rob’s wife puts her foot down and tells him he is not going. Rob’s friends were very upset that he can't go, but what can they do.

Two days later the three get to the camping site only to find Rob sitting there with a tent set up, firewood gathered, and supper cooking on the fire.

"Damn man, how long you been here and how did you talk your wife into letting you go?"

"Well, I’ve been here since yesterday. Yesterday evening I was sitting in my chair and my wife came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and said, ‘Guess who’?

"I pulled her hands off and she was wearing a brand new see through nightie. She took my hand and took me to our bedroom. The room had two dozen candles and rose petals all over. She had on the bed, handcuffs and ropes! She told me to tie and cuff her to the bed and I did.

"And then she said, ‘Now you can do what ever you want.’

"So here I am…!!!" Moral: Never deny a man meeting his friends!!!

Health and Spirituality, a pathway to overall wellbeing

Padma Shri, Dr. BC Roy and DST National Science Communication National Awardee, Dr K K Aggarwal gives an Oration at the SKN Medical College in Pune

Spiritual healthcare involves treating a patient’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual elements as an integrated whole and not just freeing a person’s physical body from disease. Speaking about the new age concept of Spiritual Prescription and the correlation between spirituality and healthcare, renowned Cardiologist, spiritual writer, inspirational speaker and President of the Heart Care Foundation of India, Dr K K Aggarwal left over 2000 doctors and students at the S K N Medical College enthralled during his visit to Pune on Friday, August 22, 2014.

A medico–spiritual expert and social worker par excellence, Dr. KK Aggarwal is the only doctor in the country to have received three prestigious National awards namely the Padma Shri, Dr. BC Roy and the DST National Science and Communication Award. He is also a Limca Book of World Record holder for the maximum number of people trained in the lifesaving technique of hands only CPR in one go and the Senior National Vice President of the Indian Medical Association.

Commenting on his keynote address at the SKN Medical College, Dr K K Aggarwal, President of the Heart Care Foundation of India said, "Health is not merely an absence of disease but a state of physical, mental, social and spiritual well being. I feel that spiritual prescription should be an integral part of modern medicine for a person can truly be healthy only when there exists a balance between his sympathetic and parasympathetic state. Unfortunately mental health education is not a part of the course curriculum at the MBBS level. I feel that in addition to normal disease prevention measures, one should follow the principles of non–violent communication, confession, non–materialistic gifting, creative thinking and community service to achieve complete inner happiness and to live a healthy life"

During his oration, Dr Aggarwal also gave an example of how by chanting vowels with nasal consonants; one can get benefits such as pain relief and mental relaxation. For instance it is very common to chant ‘AUM’ or ‘OM’ while meditating or while trying to relax one’s mind. The scientific principle behind this is that Aum/Om is nothing but a combination of a vowel Au or O along with a nasal consonant UM or M. It is a well–known fact that whenever we suffer physical pain, we automatically produce a vowel sound like in the case of being pricked by a pin or needle the natural reaction is to say ‘ee’ or ‘Ah’. Allopathic research has demonstrated that chanting of vowels produces interleukin–2 in the body, which has an action, similar to that of aspirin, a painkiller. Similarly when we are upset, we weep or make weeping sounds. These weeping sounds are nasal consonants, which produces delta activity in the mind EEG with results similar those of a tranquilizer.

A pioneer of leading health initiatives, Dr K K Aggarwal has been instrumental in bringing treatments such as clot dissolving therapy for acute heart attacks and Colour Doppler Echocardiography in the country. In addition to this, he has also conceptualized and organized unique consumer driven health awareness platforms such as The Perfect Health Mela and the Run for your Heart as a part of his role as the President of The Heart Care Foundation of India. His most recent project within the NGO called the Sameer Malik Heart Care Foundation Fund is playing an instrumental role in providing heart care for all patients in need of treatment but do not have the financial or technical means to fund it.

Situation: A patient was brought to the ICU in cardiogenic shock.
Reaction: Oh my God! Why didn’t you take him for emergency angiography and subsequent PTCA?
Lesson: Make Sure to perform an emergency diagnostic angiography and mechanical revascularization with PTCA in patients of cardiogenic shock. Results of NRMI–2 trial suggest that this intervention is much better than thrombolytic therapy in such patients.
