New guidelines on endocrine emergencies
The Society for Endocrinology has issued clinical guidelines on endocrine emergencies for use by the healthcare providers in a non-endocrinology clinical setting, such as Emergency Departments and acute general medical and surgical wards and outlines key points in the diagnosis and management and treatment of endocrine emergencies that may often be underdiagnosed. 
The Clinical Committee of the Society for Endocrinology has selected the five most common endocrine-related medical emergencies: 
1.    Acute adrenal insufficiency or adrenal crisis
2.    Severe symptomatic hyponatremia 
3.    Acute hypocalcemia 
4.    Acute hypercalcemia 
5.    Pituitary apoplexy
